Ted Kober has extensive business and governance experience. He graduated from college with a bachelor of science degree in applied management. Since age 21, he has managed or owned more than 35 different businesses. He has served as a personal representative for multiple estates and served as trustee or manager of several trusts and LLCs. In one estate, he resolved 59 separate lawsuits with the help of 30 different attorneys.

Ted has served on more than 50 boards of directors, including for-profit, non-profit, and government agencies. On most of these boards, he served as chairperson or president. Ted has served in leadership roles in C-corporations, Sub-S corporations, publicly traded corporations, general partnerships, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, sole proprietorships, non-profit corporations, and government agencies.

He has worked with attorneys in multiple states developing or amending bylaws. When settling a complex estate that involved the disposition of more than 30 closely-held companies, Ted learned a great deal about what to do and not to do when founding or managing organizations.

In addition, in his 30 years of reconciliation work, Ted has mediated disputes between boards and executive staff members and provided consultation for numerous boards for churches, schools, seminaries, denominations, businesses, and other organizations.

In the early 1990s, Ted was introduced to policy governance. Since then, he has implemented policy governance in many boards he has served on. He writes policy manuals for boards with policy governance and orientates boards on governance. Although Ted is a proponent of policy governance, he understands that it is not appropriate for all situations. Accordingly, Ted has developed hybrid models of governance that utilize some of the principles of policy governance in customized consultations.
